Since the last post, we have been staying alot at home with the Covid19 Pandemic. We work from home since mid March and Linn has digital schooling at home.
The biggest challenge is to not get on each others’ nerves since we are physically under one roof. As a true introvert, I must say I don’t feel the huge difference in my lifestyle. (Thanks to Netflix and my own laziness.) However, I admit that it is a good time for the children to be a little more considerate.
Although covid19 is rather disruptive to our daily lives, it is also a time for reflection, time to prioritise behaviour, activities and make new decisions.
Let’s all learn from this very unique experience together. Hopefully, we are come out of it much stronger.
Jonathan has been collecting figurines for the past few years. He alternates between Lego and Predator figurines and now his latest is the funko pop collection.
I have no love for horror movies but he loves to collect the villains from the classic horror movies of which many of the villains I cannot even name. So it is really ironic that he proudly shows them to me, telling me their names, their special weapons, tools and knives. Not forgetting the hours he and I spent looking for these weapons when he looses them and amount of glue he has used to stick the broken weapons back together.
This is where he invest all his pocket money. Growing up, I did not have many toys, and not even a Barbie doll. I must admit that I find it hard to appreciate the collection. I can only hope that the toys build his imagination in a good way.
It will soon be 2020, the turn of a new decade. This also marks our 10th year in Stockholm. Yes, come July 2020, we have been away for 10 years.
Whilst the intention to start this blog is to keep in touch with our love ones back in Singapore, I must say that I have not been maintaining it very well. My posts are very random and to be honest, the blog has never been my priority. Through the course of the 10 years, life has indeed taken over everything. With a full time job, countless chores at home for Nicke and myself, the blog is least on my mind and so badly neglected.
I don’t understand why i don’t maintain it as when I do work on it, I really enjoy posting our thoughts and pictures. We experienced so much in the past 10 years, been to so many places we never dreamed of, our lives have been filled with so much laughter, joy, as well as fear and tears. I am grateful for the comments from my dearest family and Fab 8 friends who still read the blog whenever there are new posts and leave wonderful words of encouragement. Thank you so much. I am grateful for your kindness. I have been writing this blog for ourselves and not expecting readers.
In the recent years, I started to think of the blog as our own personal journal of our lives in Stockholm. I am shy on Facebook and Instagram and so this will be ‘MyBook’ or ‘Minstagram’. I want the blog to record the children’s growth and serve as a reminder of our lives in Stockholm…the good, the bad, the trials and challenges. I must work hard to maintain the records as many years from now, we can look back fondly (or maybe not so fondly) of the way we were.
So my dear blog, I hope i will do a better job in 20s. I will post like no one is reading.
We started our own christmas tradition a few years ago with our own celebrations at home just before we go to Farmor’s house in Koping to celebrate Christmas.
The kids are usually excited to open their gifts from us and even happier to stuff themselves with their christmas candy.
It is a quiet time for me as I usually miss my family and friends back home as I have not been home for Christmas for 10 years now.
Here’s wishing our precious family and friends a wonderful Christmas and I am thinking alot about you.
As we are almost coming close to mid Autumn and with the cold dark winter approaching us, we canot help but think of the wonderful summer we had this year.
It was indeed a great nice summer with great weather and nice temperature.
It was also special as the Cundys came to visit and Oh Dear, they did not see any deers when they visited us. They have to come back in this case. It was wonderful that they came to visit. Thank you Cundys.
Nichlas and the kids had a beautiful vacation in Maderia swimming with dolphins and all kinds of sea adventures.
Jon, Linn and I also had wonderful vacation in Singapore where we ate, spent great days with our beloved family and friends.
Summer 2019 was indeed special and now, we just have to snuggle up for the winter.
You are 12 today and I cannot imagine how my baby has grown. You are truly beautiful and special in your own way.
My birthday wish for you is for you to be always happy, cheerful and confident. Do fulfill all your dreams and creative ideas. I know you can make it if you put your mind and effort to it.
I hope you are enjoying your stay in Singapore and are having fun. Loads of hugs and kisses…
Spring is finally coming and soon we have summer, what better way way to celebrate than to showcase some of the winter fun we have had….. – ice climbing – dog sledding
Congratulations on your 11th birthday and we hope that all your wishes will come true.
It has been quite a year for you. We are so proud of you as you transitioned to a new school and had a great Year 4. We know it was not easy to leave all your friends behind and start a new school term with unfamiliar faces, in an international environment and changing the primary language from Swedish to English. But you did it in your usual style and you are taking it in your own stride. You worked hard to earn all the grades and merits. We are most happy to share your achievements and watch you grow.
You even started a new sport, skateboarding which is something that you seem to enjoy physically and socially. Keep going at it Linn and we hope you enjoy the thrills and the moves you are exploring.
It is not easy growing up, specially for making decisions. It is alot easier for grown-ups with experiences as we learn from our past decisions. Sometimes, we want to steer you to make the right decisions without realising that you need to learn for your self. Whatever it is Linn, we are here for you always.
You also had great adventures, climbing glaciers, scout camps, Harry Potter London trip and also the recent Singapore/Penang trip. We hope that you will have loads of fond memories of these trips as much as we enjoyed these with you.
So have a great birthday, our little princess. You will always be our very special princess.
You are growing so fast and tomorrow you will be 12 years old. I have been watching you over the past few months, watching you mature into a teenager.
I know I don’t say it enough but I love you. Despite my inability to understand you and your toys, you always are sensitive to my needs. You always will sense my unhappiness and will try to cheer me up. Thank you my dear son.
On your birthday, I wish you great joy and may you always find happiness in whatever you do.
